2025 PROJECT
CREATIVE BRIEF: Design a look for an off campus retreat for our college students that focuses on spiritual rest along with prayer and fasting. Specific direction included using traditional church elements without it feel too gothic or dark, and that a dove must be included the imagery.
KEY IDEAS: Ethereal images, warm colors, gothic traditional typeface.
The original inspiration board based on the brief. I was drawn to a lot of texture, interesting takes on gothic fonts, and abstract forms of doves.
CONCEPT 1: MODERN, grunge, textured
This look was by far the furthest from the brief, but felt like a good opposition to Concept 2, which is far more of a literal take on the brief.
CONCEPT 2: GOTHIC, TEXTURAL, STAMPED
This was my favorite of the two concepts, as it hit a phrase used in a brainstorm: "If a tattoo parlor met an old church". I felt like the stamp look would be a fun element to play around with in the environmental and digital deliverables.
The feedback on both of these concepts was that while they hit the brief requirement of including a dove and traditional elements, neither looks hit the mark for the ethereal feeling they were looking for. After going back to the drawing board, the third concept became a more literal interpretation:
CONCEPT 3: oil painting, light rays, gothic font
This concept was approved and the project moved into the deliverable phase. Some of the needs for deliverables were merchandise to sell at the event, signage for both inside and outside the venue, stickers for handout bags, and a few digital assets like and iPhone background and screen content.
Lean-To Foam Boards used to add more of the look around the venue space.
Signage used for around the venue to mark different rooms according to their purpose.
Sweat set sold a the event.
